Meeting Our Mission -- Universal Access
Since its inception at the MIT Urban Studies computer lab, the goal of the vision that led to StrataVarious , Inc. has been to bring interactive data visualization tools to the "non-techie." The mission has been: "universal access to maps and map-making." While the term "map" is most often used for geographic plans, a map can be any graphic showing things in relationship to each other, including charts, graphs, and diagrams. The StrataVarious system evolved from land-use maps to include associated catalogs of place-related graphics, then image libraries, then online shopping catalogs and search managers.
In keeping with its mission of "universal access," StrataVarious software is designed for backwards compatibility to the most wide-spread systems. Through an extensive R&D effort, modules and templates have been developed that use basic client-side JavaScript, layering technology, and multi-attribute queries in very sophisticated ways. This means that for the first time highly interactive and intelligent software can be delivered over the Internet to the web browser of most anyone in the world. Our proprietary Rich Internet software thereby maximizes the responsiveness, personalization, and flow of the online browsing experience.
